"We have had a great experience with Dr. Barker! Our newborn had a tongue and lip tie revised, and Dr. Barker worked with her to relieve restrictions. In three sessions, she has gone from a poor sleeper in constant discomfort to a happy, relaxed baby. He helped loosen up her tongue restrictions and she is nursing much better (and my pain is gone)! I highly recommend Dr. Barker."- K.P. / Google / Jun 24, 2020

WHAT CAN AFFECT A PERSON'S MENTAL HEALTH?
Dysfunction in any of the following areas may cause depression or anxiety in many patients:
- Hormonal imbalances
- Thyroid dysfunction
- Sleeping disorders
- Vitamin or nutritional deficiency
- Digestive health issues
All of the above problems can be diagnosed with lab testing or a sleep study, and there are treatment options available if abnormalities are found. Functional and integrative treatment are two areas of medicine that are currently growing in popularity. The goal for both of these specialties is to find the root cause of a patient's problem and to provide effective treatment while doing the least amount of harm.
HOW IS IT TREATED?
Before we address your mental health condition, we will first need to determine the cause of your concern. We may run some blood tests to assess your hormone levels and thyroid function so we can rule out possible causes or treat them effectively. If a sleep disorder is causing your depression or anxiety, we may remedy this with a customized oral appliance. Medication management is also available, as well as microcurrent neurofeedback and osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT). Some of the mental health conditions we treat with these therapies at Integrative Pain and Wellness Center include:
