What is PRP Therapy?
Created from your body's own growth factors, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) can be used to help the body in many ways. Along with reducing pain in certain areas, PRP therapy can also be performed on the face, neck, hair, and breasts to improve the tone and smoothen the texture of the skin, as well as enhance hair follicles. Integrative Pain and Wellness Center in Southlake, TX and the surrounding areas of Midland and Odessa, TX is pleased to provide this natural, innovative service that makes use of the patient's own blood to achieve physical and cosmetic goals. Osteopathic physicians Dr. Matthew Barker and Dr. Melanie Gray are always more than happy to discuss the many benefits of PRP therapy with other regenerative options with our patients.
"We have had a great experience with Dr. Barker! Our newborn had a tongue and lip tie revised, and Dr. Barker worked with her to relieve restrictions. In three sessions, she has gone from a poor sleeper in constant discomfort to a happy, relaxed baby. He helped loosen up her tongue restrictions and she is nursing much better (and my pain is gone)! I highly recommend Dr. Barker."- K.P. / Google / Jun 24, 2020
"Dr. Barker has helped me turn my health around without the use of harmful medications. I was diagnosed with RA and didn't want to take the meds with horrible side effects. He has helped get my RA under control, I am off my cholesterol and blood pressure meds. He has helped with hormone treatment which has improved my life tremendously. And at the young age of 60 I feel fabulous thanks to Dr. Barker."- C.F. / Google / Feb 05, 2020
"Dr. Barker is a very friendly, thorough, and talented provider. I’m very satisfied with the pain relief I’ve experienced from his treatments."- L.C. / Google / Jan 05, 2020
"I brought my 3 month old son in to see Dr.Barker and I am ecstatic over how great he was with my son. He was very professional and informative. Since I had my baby he has been very uncomfortable with being in a car seat and I’m almost immune to him screaming when I put him in. Today was the first time that I put him in and he did not cry and actually fell asleep. I could cry from happiness. Thank you Dr. Barker!!!"- J.H. / Google / Nov 22, 2021

WHO QUALIFIES FOR PRP THERAPY?
Any man or woman who would like to improve the tone and texture of their skin could be a wonderful candidate for PRP aesthetic treatments. At Integrative Pain and Wellness Center, our doctors perform personalized PRP procedures for the hair, face, and breasts. During your consultation, Dr. Barker or Dr. Gray will ask you about your specific complexion concerns and goals. They will also ask about any skin conditions or blood disorders you may have to decide if aesthetic treatment with platelet-rich plasma is right for you.
Our Platelet-Rich Plasma Technique
After you are seated comfortably in one of our treatment rooms, a small amount of blood will be drawn from one of your arms and placed in a centrifuge machine. Typically, we remove around one vial worth of blood. After approximately 15 minutes inside of the centrifuge machine, the components of the blood separate and are then ready to be injected. We will load the condensed plasma into a sterile syringe and inject it into the predetermined locations. The PRP process typically takes around five minutes, but this will vary, depending on the size of the treatment area.

How effective is PRP for the skin?
Platelet-rich plasma is very effective for meeting your cosmetic goals. It works by stimulating new collagen production and renewing your appearance. During your consultation with Integrative Pain and Wellness Center, we can develop a custom treatment plan that may include follow-up appointments to make sure treatment will meet your needs.
Is PRP treatment painful?
PRP does involve a simple blood draw and injection into the treatment area. Although traditional PRP therapy does not require anesthesia, some individuals may feel a little pain during the blood draw (depending on their sensitivity). Recovery time is typically very quick, with no downtime needed.
How much does platelet-rich plasma cost?
The cost of platelet-rich plasma depends on your individual treatment plan, but we can provide accurate estimates during your initial assessment. Integrative Pain and Wellness Center can also present easy payment options to make PRP more affordable.
